Rafe Friedman interview back in NYC
This was the episode that I was so fortunate to be apart of. It's the rough cut as of right now, but I HAD to put it up because I was so excited. When the final one comes out, I'll of course post it.

I'm the last segment of the episode :)

Soon to be transferring blog
Here's the scoop
Before Thanksgiving, I did some ADR work with Nathan Phelps for the film "Presumed Dead" that we wrapped earlier this month. I had never really done ADR work so it was definitely interesting, to say the least, and way more challenging than I thought it would be. Having to sync with oneself is not easy! However, it was tons of fun and an experience that I am grateful for. I saw the rough cut of the film so far and whoa....Nathan and his crew are RIDICULOUSLY talented. The film is soooo saturated and moody. It's really beautiful to watch. I can't wait to hear it with full audio now :)

Children Of The Dust commences
OKAY! Now onto C.O.T.D. First of all: I love the cast and crew. They are just super down to earth chill people. Always a great recipe for a fun time. Secondly, I totally love how demented the script is. It highlights characteristics between Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Gregg Araki and since Chris Wilembrecht, the director, loves John Waters, there's a splash of him in it too. However, the script is entirely from the mind of Chris, morphed from years of being a cinephile.
We began filming on the fresh Friday morning where we, Carrie Fee Rapp and myself, had hours of make up done. We were demons in the starting scenes and David Weideman, aka Mad Scientist, had made demon masks with a fleshy molded substance. He's insanely talented with his department and I'm SOOO stoked to have been able to work with him on this project. He made us look legit. I was afraid to even look at myself! We had blood oozing from us, demonic eyes, teeth...the whole shebang!
William Hightower who plays Vincent was a real trooper too. He went through hell and back with his character, literally, haha. It was a strong vibe as we filmed all day through to the night, but was rudely halted when it began raining outside. So a few of our scenes had to get postponed.
The next day was epic. More blood, more gore and Carrie even did her own stunts. Take that Hollywood! Then on Sunday, that's when things got cccrrraazzzyyyyy. No more demon make up, however, I got to drive a badass manual muscle car....and I looked gggggoooooodddddd. In fact, it inspired me to save money to eventually purchase one, haha. Then we drove to the desert, where we were all pyromaniacs. I can't go into detail because I don't want to spoil the surprise, but it's going to look AMAZING. Carrie and I did get a work out and poor Will acquired A LOT of bruises. Luckily he can handle it ;)
Here are some pics from this weekend.

*Trivia question* Did you know that Flagstaff was originally meant to be the original "Hollywood"? According to the popular myth, Cecil B DeMille's wanted to shoot in Flagstaff, but there was a storm so relentless, the cast and crew decided to continue out west until they settled in Hollywood.
It's never too late to get this back!

Arizona Action
I recently watched a film called “The Last Lullaby” and ever since I’ve watched it I can’t get it off of my mind. It was an amazing film in all categories. The mains actors in this film noir psycho-thriller are Tom Sizeman and Sasha Alexander and it was directed by the very talented and visionary Jeffrey Goodman. I don’t want to give away any information, but the story bounces between a hitman, his target and their interaction between each other as stories unveil themselves around them. The subtle acting between Tom and Sasha kept me on the edge of my chair the entire time. They’re sooo unbelievably talented at acting it was refreshing to watch. The story line was ‘messed’ up, but it’s my style of writing; a mix between Tarantino and the Coen brothers with its own twist. The locations used in this film were also spot on. Whoever did the scouting for this film deserves two thumbs up.
The world works in a mysterious way. Let me explain. I heard this film via a recommendation of my friend/director Travis Mills. He’s an encyclopedia with films and I trust his judgment. Watched it, was blown away. Then the very next day, I’m looking at film breakdowns and I see an audition for an upcoming hitwoman psycho-thriller. My heart skipped a beat because I have been so pumped about this whole genre and felt it was serendipitous. I sent in my headshot and resume for consideration and within hours receive contact to come in the next day for an audition.
I receive the sides and prepared. I don’t like to go into details about auditions ahead of time in case I don’t receive a call back, but I felt so excited about this one that I feel it’s acceptable to break my rule. I met up with the director, the producer and the DP in a quaint studio in the heart of Phoenix where I was warmly greeted. There I went in with my A-game about the character (which, like many characters has aspects of myself in them) and performed to my fullest. Everyone was very positive and very kind, which is a great environment to audition in. It would be a real treat to be able to earn this role because it would yet again challenge me in a new way and…well….it’s just a lot of fun to have an action/murder/spy/thriller role. I’m lovin’ the projects happening in Arizona. We are living in fortuitous times.

Untitled film shoot with Nathan Phelps
The story is sort of about a love that is lost and it's shown through the eyes/mind of the male lead, and I play his wife. It shows the pain from both sides of the characters and it's dealt with inner monologues and letters written. It's really good, I'm not going to even sugar coat it.
I love Nathan's style of directing too. He's very soft spoken and has a calm demeanor, but he knows what he wants. His products are full of life and colour and are very eye appealing. When I saw his work, I was flattered he contacted me to be honest!

A Stray wrapped
Since the last blog, I've wrapped filming for the project A Stray and have begun working on another untitled film project with director Nathan Phelps and his crew. However, before I go into details about that project let me discuss filming for A Stray. As I expected, it was fantastic and challenging! Everyone (cast and crew alike) were so kind and so professional is was a breeze to be on set. Working with Joe Flowers, the male lead, was the best because he's a) talented b) professional c) fun and d) knows how to bring out what's needed from the scene and that my friends is a coveted trait!
All in all it was a wonderful experience and I am sad that the project has wrapped, however I am excited and eager to see the finished project. From what I saw in the play backs, we've got a killer story.
Here are some pics from the shoot:

I play the character Evelyn, the wife of Gabriel Althaus and mother of Katie. The film is going to oscillate between the past and the present in vivid and sharp lens and lighting. I can't go into too much detail because I don't want to give anything away...but it's going to come out amazing!

Paradise in the Desert
Speaking on Running Wild Films, I also helped out, with a walk on cameo, (literally a walk...photographing my heels) for their newest short Night Train To Phoenix. I'm excited to see how it turns out because on playback it looked really attractive to the eyes.
Since then, I auditioned for another short feature film being shot in Phoenix area and I booked it! It is called "Children Of The Dust". The director, Chris Wilembrecht, is a suave, savvy gent with a hint of provocative tease in his style of writing and filming. The story line follows a young man whom is under the thumb of a very religious single mother until one day he meets a beautiful seductress that turns his world upside down. Things go from bad to good to extremely bad and the sister of the beautiful girl is forced to come into the picture to set things straight. I play the sister, Lena, that must clean up the mess. It's definitely a drama/thriller and I am super excited to be able to tap into this side of myself for the role!
A couple of days ago the cast and crew had an official meet and greet where we all mingled, relaxed and had a table reading. I can honestly say we all clicked pretty much right away-which is fantastic and fortuitous! I'm excited because we will have two make up artists on set: one for our natural look and the other for our super natural look ;) Can't go into much more details about that, but this is going to be a rrrrreeeeeaaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyy fun role.
I'll post pictures later of the meet and greet and introduce you to the cast :)

Something Big Is Happening Here

That's a wrap!
The Big Something finally and unfortunately came to a wrap on Sunday. I am not quite sure how to feel about it. I know the crew is elated because well...they had it bad. Up before everyone else and out last. However, I know I am bummed. Yet, I distract myself with tagging pictures on Facebook (which I know you ALL just LOVE), laughing at the trailer, talking about the project and promoting it as much as possible and finally just sitting back and waiting for the final product.

The final days of filming went by just right, at least for me. Every day was LITERALLY an adventure and a half. I can't elude to any information, otherwise we'd have to kill you...you'll just have to watch the movie and find out for yourself.

However, each location was super tantalizing for both the cast and crew and for the audience. Wall hopping, ladder climbing, alley way running-you name it-we did it. I have the bruises to represent the adventures.

Another night, through the wee hours (we were like owls), we were at this amazing coffee shop, which dished out coffee like candy (thank you) and we all were blessed with work with Eddie Jones. Yeah, that's correct...Eddie Jones. I didn't get to see that juicy bit entirely, but from what I did get to watch...it was sheer bliss.

Another night Lewis turned into an acrobat and was doing Cirque De Soleil maneuvers that left my jaw laying on the ground most of the time. That kid is amazing.
Outside of work Michael Harrelson (Cliff) and I got lunch at the San Carlos Hotel, which is a sweet historical hot spot. Good food, good decor, good company. What else can a girl ask for?

The last two days were for me the ones I wanted to prolong the most. The second to the last day was the climax. Where in the movie, the audience members gasp, the music peaks, goosebumps molest your body and your hair stands tall. This day was LONG, but amazing and I know it'll look fantastic on film. Granted, several more bruises were added to my collection, but they're like scars, but only temporary...they tell stories. After we finished that night, the cast and crew hung out a bit and relished in the glory of the day, the glory of the team, the glory of the film. We were illuminated by our accomplishments and radiating with our passion. We were/are a family. Jason, thee camera man, amazed us with his...talents(?)...and cahoonahs and made silly phone calls that had us all doubled over in laughter.

Then the final day was a calm day. It ironically was the last scene of the film. Poetic really. The first day was the opening scene and the last day was the closing scene. We all were goofy. At least I was. I know some people wanted to get it over with and to focus, but it really was hard. It was like postponing the inevitable for me. We did our scenes and wrapped. Again, electric energy in the air that eventually fizzled with awkwardness because...now what? We packed our bags and lingered a little to laugh and joke, but eventually we all had to part. Luckily the wrap party was that same night so we distracted our thoughts towards that. We parted knowing we'd all see each other in a few mere hours.

Now for the wrap party...well...what happens at the wrap party stays at the wrap party.

P.S. Thanks to Adam Moreno for providing lots of set photos...you rocked our world

I really don't even know where to begin or what to say. There's been too much that has happened and I know there will be much more. Let's talk about a few highlights I suppose. On day one, the scene we shot was while the lead male and I stalk this hot wheeled suspect to a bar. One would expect a slight awkwardness since it is the first day of the whole production, but not with these boys. You'd think it'd be strange being the only female around, except for Mary Poppins (Vernda), but I don't know-I feel like one of the guys? Maybe that's not the truth and maybe they're catering (but do I really mind?) or maybe it's in my head (again...problem?).
Day two was definitely a lot of fun because it's one of those high tensioned moments in the film where Lewis and I break into another suspects' house Harlan. I resort to violence by using my handy croquet mallet and Lewis resorts to his inquisitive Dick Tracy 'tude. Harlan and Harlan's dad (Dean and Garry) were troopers and hilarious to work with. The lighting and camera set up was "so movie" (inside joke) and I can't wait to see the finished product. This night was pretty crazy because I didn't get home til the wee hours of the morning (i.e. 3:00) and had to wake up at 5am for day three.
Day three was definitely a day that sticks out. It started out at a church where we filmed the funeral scene for our late boss Marcus where I was a drunk, hostile mess. Working with Kasim (playing Rupert) and Michael (playing Lewis) was like playing with kids in a sand box. We worked together trying to sculpt that nice sand castle. Jokes on set was more prevalent than ever (perhaps from lack of sleep) and improving became almost a norm. I still apologize to the sweet funeral attendees for any bruises I may have caused them in my drunken debauchery stunt (I fell and ended up doing a back somersault). After we wrapped the morning scene, I went to go decorate my apartment in the movie to give it my final touch with the director Travis. Later we went back to Tempe (or was it Mesa or Gilbert?) to shoot the exterior car scenes for my awesome classic Pacer car and watching Cliff exit the bus. Minor glitch because the bus wasn't running as frequently...we arrived super early and there were interesting characters walking around and waiting legitimately for the bus. I befriended a sweet bum that wanted to bum a ciggie (who would've thunk?) Later that night we then filmed my apartment scene where Lewis sneaks up and watches me play the harp. Honestly...this was SO freaking cool. I want a harp and I want to be exactly like Joanna Newsom. Right now. Kaetlynn, a professional harpist, was so kind to come over, teach me a few tricks so that I looked like I knew what I was doing on camera and let us use her amazingly beautiful Celtic harp. Can I just say again...I want one?! The harp is such an under appreciated instrument and I've decided to bring it back with style. Anyway, the scene was a lot of fun and literally we all started to loose our minds by this point because we'd all been up since around 5am and we didn't wrap until 3ish? Lost our minds in an awesome way, of course.
Day four was easy for me, but not for the Lewis and the crew. Poor guys. This time we did the interior car scenes for April and Lewis where we are following Cliff in the bus. Now...I know there are a lot of jokes about female drivers and blah blah, but I feel that I did a pretty darn good job driving this beast, while performing the scene with Lewis AND while taking directions from the director and crew. TRUST me...this Pacer is insanely cool, but it isn't in its prime so driving is a wee bit difficult. After a red light run and a near drive in with another vehicle, we got the scenes we needed. I just hope Travis doesn't put that in the behind the scenes...
Day five was super sweet. This day's shoot focused on another high intense moment in the film where we break into Cliff's house. Everyone was super tired especially Lewis, but he was a champ. Pizza and energy drinks filled the empty spot inside and we were all ready to film. Cliff, (Michael Harrelson) was a bonafied badass with a suggestion that left us all aghast, but I can't reveal that...you'll just have to watch the movie. I personally love this shoot because the acting for my character was a lot more like how I've trained, which is more subtle and internalized. Since this film is sort of a modern day film noir murder mystery, there has been a lot of wide shots and wide gestures, which was something I was out of practice since it'd been about two years since I was on stage. Also, I missed this, but apparently a spectator from the apartment complex we were filming at offered us his place for lodging and what not. He even did the "Situation" slogan where he showed everyone his abs and said to show them in the film. He wrote a note and left his house keys in an envelope. Kindness to a new degree? Hmm...that's the kind of stuff that has been happening during this project. Love it.
Day six I luckily had off: hardy har har, no I'm just kidding boys...really. However, I didn't know what to do with myself! I've been all about the film that I called Travis and asked if he needed me for anything. Luckily they did and I got to be somewhat productive. Phew.
Day seven, which was yesterday was fantastic because we were filming at "Tracks In Wax", a staple in record stores history. This is the type of set I said is eye candy. Another being Harlan's house being engulfed with keys, yes keys. Another is Q n Brew pool hall/bar. Another will be tonight, but I can't jump the gun just yet. Back to T 'n' W. We filmed a lot of goodies there that day. Not to mention I had a free therapy session where I could slap Lewis over and over again without consequences. In fact, I was encouraged to slap even more ferociously. Sick individuals they are? Yes indeed.
Today's the first time I've had time and energy to blog about what's going on. We're filming tonight as well for the night scene at the coffee shop, this place is another eye candy spot.
As for the title? Lewis introduced me and has had it stuck in my head. Now I shall get it stuck in your head.

Happy June!

Secondly, the LA film "The Coalition" by Team Sizzle Films that I had previously blogged about finally came through! The film was written by Terrell Suggs and Monica Mingo and Monica is also directing it. On Saturday Mrs. LaTicia White contacted me for a last minute filming opportunity for the movie and naturally I'd NEVER decline such an opportunity! It took place the very next day (Sunday) and it's going to again take place tomorrow. I am so excited and honoured to be apart of this fabulous film. I can't tell you much about the film, however please check out the website and go on Facebook and support the movie project. I portray an upscale boutique sales associate named Camille who works with the well known fashion mogul Vidal where we spice up a newly sizzled lover of the main character with fabulous fabrics and jewels.

Lastly, The Big Something begins filming on June 6th. That's just a couple of days away!!!! We've been cramming in last minute rehearsals and the actors are individually meeting up trying to squeeze every chance we have to further rehearse for the movie. When it comes to filming time, we want to be at our best and work our way up. We are all super pumped for this movie and I know that it's going to turn out better than we all every imagined.

Aprils come and gone and May has reared her lovely head
I also was booked for a country music video for Hollywood Yates that will be filming here shortly. The song is pretty darn lovely and his voice is perfect for the country genre. The team I have met are so positive and so enthusiastic that it naturally rubs off. I can't wait to shoot this. Plus it's going to be aired on CMT, which my friends, is big time for the country scene! Super excited!
The next thing that I'm excited about is a modeling project. Yep, that's right. I know modeling isn't truly my thing, but as a talent you never want to turn down work. Also, this modeling gig isn't ordinary. I'll be modeling with a serval African cat. That is right, you did read that correct! This is why I am super stoked. I love animals, I love cats, I love pics and I love work. So it's really a win/win situation for me.
On Saturday I went to an audition for a Sci-Fi flick being shot in Phoenix. The vibe was great and I think they liked me. Only problem I forsee is time conflict. They'll be shooting around the same time as my other film project so I don't know as of yet if they'll clash with each other. I suppose we'll discuss those details if I get the role. However, the creature for the Sci-Fi film is SO well done that it really would be amazing to work in the film.
I also finally heard back about the LA film, The Coalition. Since my last post there hasn't been a reschedule for the auditions. Literally, this morning I got an email about it, which made me feel better. I really want to be apart of this film as well (man I sound greedy, don't I?) and I thought that perhaps they just decided to forgo the whole Phoenix auditions. Luckily, they haven't.
I also was given this photo from when I was on the set of How To Make It In America. It made me smile. That day was SOOO much fun and Bryan, Victor, Eddie, Kid Cudi and Margarita were all very amicable with me. Man, does Cudi know how to party!

Auditions update
I also received a phone call from a local production company for upcoming auditions this Saturday for a short thriller film. It's about four college grads that go out into the wilderness and something dreadful happens. Haven't received the script so I don't know much about it nor the character, but I'll keep you posted.
Luck is on my side
My character is a young woman whose love of music has caused her to end up in a record store. Her youth, however, does not decant her bitter and jaded perspective of the world. She discards tangible items in her hands as she does with her words and actions towards everyone and everything around her. However, the murder of her boss forces her and another co-worker through a series of events and adventures that forces her to rectify with her own demons and come into grips with her true identity.
I fell in love with the character because I feel that April is a portion of my own being. There are times when I feel lost and bitter. There are times when it's hard to maintain relationships (platonic or not). I also feel that she is an aspect of myself that I cannot be due to societal and traditional family norms.
The story is great and I know it will be a lot of fun to film. The director is hilarious and down to earth, so I know we'll all get along just famously.
Here's the novice blog for the movie at the moment:

Audition update
That movie being shot in LA that I thought I missed the audition yesterday is actually holding an additional audition tomorrow!!! The casting director contacted me to inform me about the wonderful news!! Sooooooo.....my luck continues!
Yay!
Catching up
I just want to inform you all that I was casted in Ey Pari Kojai and we have already filmed it. Assal, the director, has submitted it to several film festivals and it got picked up in a European film circuit, which we are ALL excited about.

I love my job

I really had an amazing experience with everyone on set: the cast and crew. They are incredibly hard working, brilliantly talented and genuinely down to earth. I am honoured to have been apart of this project!
